Dental Office Printer Recommendations

As a company owner with multiple offices I have a lot of the same needs that a dental office has when outfitting their office with different IT appliances. One of the choices that you need to make is often the office printer. There is no need to over spend but also if you go with the cheapest option you may end up with a struggle trying to do the simplest things like printing a receipt for your patients when they leave. I will break this up into some simple recommendations for different locations in the practice.
Front Desk Workhorse Printer
The Brother MFCโL9610CDN Enterprise Color Laser AllโinโOne Printer
Why I recommend this printer and have made use of it in my own office.
- TWAIN network accessible scanner feature. At the front desk you will need to be able to scan in documents. This scanner gives you the ability to scan from a sheet feeder a 2 sided document that it will convert directly to a PDF. You can setup this scanner as a TWAIN device in your practice management software so you can scan from any computer in your network
- 540 Sheet Printer Tray, trust me being able to load an entire ream of paper at a time doesn’t just save time it actually saves paper, when staff open a ream of paper and can only load half you end up trying to store and likely damaging the other half.
- Low maintenance and reasonable toner pricing
- Two sided printing saves a ton of paper especially if you have to print something big like a HIPAAย manual or an employee manual

Back Office Printer
HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP 4301fdw
Why this is my back office recommendation
- Smaller footprint – Generally dental offices will have some type of back office printer maybe in the lab or staff space where you don’t have much room.
- Still has 2 sided printing and a flatbed scanner.
- Wireless is built in for when you don’t have a physical network connection.
- Benefit of two different brands of printers in your office. It is easier to keep track of what toner goes to what printer.

Color Photo Printer
If you desire the ability to print glossy photo stock prints you are going to need a color inkjet printer.
It is possible to print beautiful color photos yourself but you will burn through a lot of ink and its possible for ink cartridges to dry out which is why I never use inkjets for workhorse printers
