Best Laptops for Your Shining 3D Intraoral Scanner

Published March 2026 · Updated June 2026 · Recommendations valid through December 2026

If you’ve purchased or are considering a Shining 3D intraoral scanner — including the Aoralscan Elite, Aoralscan Elf, Aoralscan 3 (wired or wireless) — one of the most common questions we get is: “What laptop do I need?”

We’ve done the homework for you. Below are the laptops we recommend that meet or exceed Shining 3D’s official PC requirements. These aren’t budget machines — the scanner software is GPU-intensive and demands real horsepower. New for this update: Shining 3D now officially supports NVIDIA’s RTX 50-series, so we’ve added two RTX 5070 machines as our new lead picks.

⚠️ Important note from Shining 3D: The simple rule: stick to the xx60, xx70, or xx80 tiers (RTX 3060/4060/5060 and up). The entire xx50 tier is unsupported — RTX 3050, 4050, and 5050, no exceptions. Our lineup below uses RTX 4060, RTX 4070, and now RTX 5070 — all approved.

🆕 Buying an RTX 50-series laptop? Read this first.

As of June 2026, Shining 3D’s RTX 50-series support is official — but it requires IntraoralScan software version 3.6.5.X or later. Earlier software versions are not compatible with 50-series cards and will produce freezing/scanning issues. Both new laptops below use the RTX 5070 — just make sure your scanner software is updated to 3.6.5.X+ before your first scan. (The 5050 remains the exception: still flagged by Shining 3D as unsupported due to software freezes.)
