Description

This is a shipping kit for Schick sensor repair, not a sensor. We’ll mail your office a box with a prepaid return label inside. Put your Schick sensor in the box, stick the label on and drop it off. US customers only. Looking for a replacement instead? Browse our pre-owned x-ray sensors here.

How Schick sensor repair works

  1. Get it to us. Order this kit and we’ll send the box. Or skip the wait, fill out our repair form and ship it yourself today to Sodium Dental, 540 Avis Dr Suite H, Ann Arbor, MI 48108.
  2. Free diagnosis. Once your sensor arrives, you’ll have an estimate within 48 hours, usually sooner. If we can’t fix it, you don’t pay for a repair. You only cover return shipping if you want the sensor back.
  3. Repair. Our techs start the moment you approve the estimate.
  4. Final testing. We check the cable, the housing seal and that the sensor still fits a RINN holder. Then we take a full FMX in Apteryx XrayVision to make sure it doesn’t pre-trigger, passes an electrical grounding test and finishes every image without a failed acquisition. The printed FMX goes back in the box with your sensor. See our full final testing process.
  5. Back to your office. Your sensor ships vacuum sealed with a desiccant pack, and tracking hits your inbox. Our logistics specialist follows up after delivery to make sure it’s working.

What we fix on Schick sensors

We repair every Schick sensor, including the Schick CDR, CDR Wireless, CDR Pluswire, CDR Elite, Schick WiFi, Schick 33, Schick Elite and Schick AE. Dentsply Sirona stopped servicing the CDR line back in 2018. We didn’t. The most common problems we see:

  • Blank, gray or noisy images
  • Taking an image before you expose it
  • Dropping in and out, or not being recognized by the computer
  • A twisted, kinked, pinched or chewed cable

Doing something that isn’t on this list? Send it anyway. We can test anything, and the evaluation is free.

Don’t forget the interface

A lot of “dead” Schick sensors turn out to be a bad interface. That’s the USB remote module on CDR sensors, the USB interface on the Schick 33 and Elite, or the AE USB interface on the Schick AE. We repair those too, so send the interface in the same box as your sensor and we’ll test them together. Need a replacement right now? Shop pre-owned Schick interfaces here.

Before you box anything up, rule out the cheap stuff. A failing USB hub or a missing Schick calibration file can look exactly like a dead sensor. If those check out, it’s time to ship it.

Why offices send us sensors other shops couldn’t fix

Sure, there are cheaper places to send a Schick sensor. We see a lot of those sensors here after the first repair didn’t hold, or after it sat on someone’s bench for weeks. Sodium Dental was the first company to offer Schick sensor repair, and every sensor we fix goes through the same final test before it leaves.

Every Schick repair comes with our 30 day repair warranty. Review the repair warranty here.

Can’t be down a sensor while it’s here? Rent a 30 day loaner sensor. Thinking about replacing it instead? Pre-owned Schick sensors cost a fraction of new.
