Occlusal X-Rays Are Killing Your Digital X-Ray Sensors

I just wanted to do a quick post on Occlusal X-Rays and how much these types of X-Rays are destroying the digital sensors we are often getting in for repair. I just recently was looking at two Gendex GXS-700 sensors from a customer that came in broken and wanted to share just how much damage this can be causing to your sensors.

I can’t stress enough that sensors should not be bitten by patients.

This example is a Gendex GXS-700. You can see how using the sensor for Occlusal X-Rays is killing the digital xray sensor. We have examples of this from all major brands of sensors. So far there just isn’t a housing designed to stand up to this kind of wear and tear. I would like to suggest that until someone manufactures a holder sturdy enough for Occlusal X-Rays that the sensor is not used in this manner.
