You’re looking at a pre-owned dental sensor to save a few thousand dollars, and there’s a fair question nagging at you. What happens when it breaks? Used usually means no safety net. Buy it, and you’re on your own.

Not here. Every eligible pre-owned sensor we sell comes with a Protection Plan, and it covers more than the warranty on a lot of brand-new sensors. So the pre-owned dental sensor warranty question, the one keeping you on the fence, has a better answer than you’d expect.

What a Pre-Owned Dental Sensor Warranty Usually Covers

Start with what a plain warranty does, because that’s the bar most people have in their head. A standard warranty covers manufacturing defects. If the thing left the factory wrong, the maker fixes it. With used gear off a marketplace, you often don’t even get that.

It’s the same deal as the warranty on a new dishwasher. It covers the machine showing up broken. It does not cover the day a fork drops through the rack and jams the spray arm.

Now think about how sensors actually die. A patient bites the cable. Someone drops it. The cord gets kinked behind a monitor and slowly gives out. Or it just fails one day after years of hard use. None of that is a manufacturing defect. All of it is the everyday reality of a device that lives in patients’ mouths and busy hands.

Sure, a defect warranty is better than nothing. But it barely overlaps with the list of things that actually take a sensor down. That gap is where our Protection Plan comes in, and it’s what you get standard with a pre-owned sensor from us. Here’s the difference at a glance.

A Standard Warranty

Covers factory defects

✓ Manufacturing defects
✗ A cracked housing from a bite
✗ A dropped sensor
✗ A kinked, failing cable
✗ Equipment failure

Our Protection Plan

Covers what actually happens

✓ A cracked housing from a bite
✓ A dropped sensor
✓ A kinked, failing cable
✓ Equipment failure
✓ No deductible

The exclusion list is two items long: loss and intentional damage. If it isn’t one of those two, it’s covered.

Which Pre-Owned Sensors Are Covered

The Protection Plan comes standard on four pre-owned models, and these are the ones worth a look if you’re shopping to save. The Dexis Platinum, the Dexis Titanium, and the Gendex GXS-700 in both Size 1 and Size 2.

Every one ships from us tested, serviced, and already covered. You’re not buying a gamble off an anonymous listing. You’re buying a known-good sensor with a Protection Plan behind it. And if you’re wondering whether a pre-owned sensor even holds up, we answered that on its own: a pre-owned sensor performs like new.

Three Ways to Get Covered

You can get onto the Plan three ways, and one of them is free.

1

Buy a Pre-Owned Sensor

Every eligible pre-owned sensor we sell includes a Protection Plan. Pick the term at checkout: 6 months, 3 years, or 5 years.

2

Add It After a Repair

Get an eligible sensor repaired by us and put it on the Plan, billed monthly or annually, with no maximum term. Stay on it as long as you want.

3

Get 30 Days on the House

Every eligible sensor we repair comes back with 30 days of the Protection Plan, free and automatic. One call converts it to a monthly or annual plan before it ends.

Buying pre-owned from us means the coverage is already on the sensor the day it arrives, with no gap and no paperwork on your end.

How It Works When Something Breaks

When a covered sensor goes down, you’re not arguing over whether a bite counts. You call, we handle it. Before anything ships, we remote into your system and confirm the sensor is actually the problem. A lot of the time the sensor is fine and it’s a cable, a USB port, or a setting, and we’ve solved it without you mailing anything.

If it really is the sensor, we issue an RMA, you ship it in, and we repair or replace it. Same bench that fixes sensors all day, now working on yours with the coverage already in place.

One thing I won’t dress up. Coverage doesn’t make shipping free in every case, and the details depend on your plan and the situation. That’s a quick conversation with a rep, not a line I’m going to pretend is one-size-fits-all.

The Risk You’re Actually Avoiding

A replacement sensor or add-on sensor isn’t a small line item. A new one can run you several thousand dollars, and even a used one is real money. Buying pre-owned already saved you a chunk. The Protection Plan makes sure a bite or a bad day doesn’t hand that savings right back.

Buy Pre-owned. Buy Protection.
