Housing replacement

We Can Replace a Kodak Housing

When a Kodak housing is cracked or broken, we can put a new one on. That matters, because a cracked housing lets fluid in, and fluid is what turns a cheap fix into a dead sensor.

Here’s what else comes off our bench on a Kodak, Carestream or Trophy:

  • Sensors: RVG 5000, 6000, 6100, 6200 and 6500, Carestream RVG and Trophy
  • Cables: the sensor cable and the USB cable
  • Interface boxes on the models that use one
  • Circuit boards, like the RVG 6100 in the photo

Kodak RVG Cable Replacement

A Kodak cable takes a beating. I once had an RVG 6100 come in with a cable twisted so many times over its life that it looked like an old phone cord. I still can’t tell you how it got that way, but here’s what was inside it.

When the cable is the problem, we replace the whole thing. Never a splice. Sure, a splice is cheaper on the day. But it puts a weak spot right in the part of the cable that already failed once. Our replacement cable also runs thicker wire than the original. Here’s why a full sensor cable replacement matters.

Sending it in

Fill out the repair form and ship the sensor to our Ann Arbor repair facility, with the interface box if your model has one. Sometimes it’s the box. Estimate within 48 hours of arrival. Once you approve, we repair it, test it and ship it back to you.

In a hurry? Choose express repair, or rent a 30-day loaner sensor while yours is on our bench.

Kodak RVG Troubleshooting Before You Ship

Once in a while the fix is on your end, and these take five minutes:

1

The RVG acquisition icon stays grey.

The software can’t see the sensor. Plug it straight into the computer with no USB extension cable or unpowered hub, then try a second port.

2

Windows says it found new RVG hardware that needs a driver.

That’s a driver problem, not always a dead sensor. Here’s how to check your sensor driver.

3

It takes the exposure but no image shows up.

Read Kodak sensor not working: no image after taking the x-ray. It walks through six checks.

4

Try a second computer.

If the problem follows the sensor, it’s the sensor. If it stays with the computer, a powered USB hub fixes more sensor problems than you’d think.

Still stuck? Our sensor troubleshooting guide walks through the same checks we’d do with you on the phone.
